We foster a love for writing from the very beginning, seeing it as a vital skill that connects and strengthens all areas of learning. Our comprehensive writing curriculum provides a clear pathway for every child, guided by the structure of the “Pathways to Write” scheme. This approach starts in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) where we focus on building essential foundational skills. This includes developing fine motor control for clear letter formation, building a rich vocabulary, and understanding that spoken words can be written down. As children progress through Year 1 to Year 6, we systematically develop their writing ability, moving from simple sentences to complex texts across a variety of genres. The strong foundations established in the early years are paramount; they are continuously reinforced and built upon as students learn to plan, draft, edit, and publish their work, ultimately becoming confident, articulate, and successful writers capable of expressing themselves clearly and creatively.
